Best-man Speech DO's & Dont's

This can either bring you closer to your friend and his new wife or be a complete disaster and cause unforeseen future circumstances if you ever want to have any bro time with your friend..
So please heed my warning and read our suggestions on giving a great best-man speech without embarrassing yourself or the groom and ruining your chances of ever hanging out again!

1) Start by introducing yourself and your relation to the the groom.

2) Congratulate the happy couple.

3) Mention how beautiful the bride looks.

** Don't tell a joke to start cause it will set a negative tone for the whole speech. Do the formalities and heartfelt connection first.

4) Mention how you met or a funny or memorable time you two spent hanging out.

5) Pick on the groom a little but don't bash him this is a toast not a roast.

6) Tell a tale of how you met the bride or when your friend introduced you to her.

7) Mention how you notice a change in the groom due to them being together.

** Do NOT pick on or dig at the bride.

8) Thank everyone for coming out.

9) End by making a toasts to the happy couple.

Simplify the Wedding Planning Process

What Bride & Groom or planner doesn't want to make planning a wedding easier? Check out these tips and tricks to take the stress out of planning your wedding!

  • Consider putting a number on your R.S.V.P corresponding to each guests. Sending out R.S.V.P cards to guests is a crap shoot. When you get them back many times you can't read them, however you can look up the number it matches to see who it is.
  • Make a separate email account just for your wedding. That way you can keep things organized, and also avoid being spammed by vendors in your personal email account.
  • Go on Facebook and or search for used wedding items..Craigslist etc... Purchasing slightly used wedding items will keep wedding costs down, and you may find something you wouldn't think to add to your wedding at a great price.
  • Instead of using envelopes consider personalized Thank You postcards.
  • Go to a Bridal Show... Every year there are numerous bridal shows prior to your wedding that offer lots of freebies and you can meet many great vendors there.
  • Use multi-colored post-it notes to create a seating chart for your wedding.
  • Register for your wedding where you can receive cash for duplicates or gifts you may not want.
  • As a means to keep track of your gifts and who gave them, use sticky's with a sharpy to add the gift givers names. That way you know who to thank when you open your gift.
  • Try activity books to keep kids busy. No one likes kids running around acting crazy at a wedding especially during important moments like your 1st dance, cake cutting etc...
  • Ceremony programs can double as a fan to keep cool and give Bride & Groom ceremony info. If your having a wedding outside, being HOT is always a factor.
  • Make a list of people to handle any issues on your wedding day. That way the Bride & Groom aren't stressing out and enjoying there day.

Best Man Responsibilities at a wedding.

Picture
As a DJ for weddings I see many awesome best men, and then there's some people who I wonder how or why they were chosen to be there on such a momentous occasion.
  • Support your friend...If he needs anything your there to help.
  • Yes it's a lot of work, but here comes the fun... You plan the Bachelor Party. However, make sure it matches what your buddy getting married wants.
  • Make sure all Groomsmen are on point, have been fitted, and picked up there attire.
  • Can't stress this one enough... GET THE GROOM to the wedding ON Time!
  • If there is no ring bearer, then the responsibility falls on the best man.
  • You get to also pay the officiant, of course your friend will give you the money for that.
  • Also, you and the maid of honor are firsthand witnesses, so sign the license as a witness.
  • Most important, give a toast at the reception, and try to stay sober before this so it isn't a disaster.
  • Make sure your friend and his new wife are happy.
  • Yes you made sure the groomsmen got the tux, now make sure they return it...
  • Lastly, grab the Maid of Honor and go decorate the couples car before they leave.
